Terre di Veleja
The Protected Geographical Indication "Terre di Veleja" identifies the following wines: White (also sparkling), Red (also sparkling) and Rosé (also sparkling). In addition, some vines are indicated on the label.
Grapes
The main varieties for the production of PGI "Terre di Veleja" are: Malvasia bianca di Candia aromatica and Trebbiano Romagnolo for the white (at least 60%), Barbera and Bonarda for the red (at least 70%), Barbera and Fortana for the rosé (at least 60%). In addition, for the production of single-variety grapes, the one indicated on the label must be the source of at least 85% of the grapes. In all types, the remaining quota can be produced using another grape variety, similar in colour, suitable for the cultivation of Emilia-Romagna.
Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties
The White wine (10.50% vol.), also sparkling, is straw yellow in colour, combined with a delicate and characteristic perfume and a dry, sweet, sweet and sweet taste. The red type (11% vol.), also sparkling, has a more or less intense red colour, a characteristic aroma and a dry, sweet, sweet and sweet flavour. The Rosé (10.50% vol.), also Sparkling, is characterized by a more or less intense pink color and exudes a delicate and characteristic scent, while the palate is dry, mouthful, semi sweet, sweet. Grape production area
The production area includes the entire province of Piacenza.
Specificity and historical notes
Archaeological finds date the presence of wine activity in the area as early as the first millennium BC Plinio, in the list of the 80 most famous wines, cites a delicious production of Placentia wine in Veleja, an ancient Roman town.
