Castel del Monte Rosso Riserva

The Protected Designation of Origin "Castel del Monte Rosso Riserva" refers to a single type of red wine, without variants or indications of vineyard. 


Grapes

The "Castel del Monte Rosso Riserva" is produced using 65% grapes from Nero di Troia vines. The remaining 35%, however, can be composed of one or more non-aromatic black grapes suitable for cultivation in the Central Murgia. 


Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

The red colour of "Castel del Monte Rosso Riserva" ranges from ruby to garnet, typical of bottles that have undergone longer ageing. The smell is characteristic and fine and goes well with a full-bodied and harmonious taste. The minimum total alcoholic strength by volume shall be 13,00% vol


Grape production area

The "altopiano della Murgia" is the environmental setting in which the Castel del Monte Rosso Riserva is born, produced in a well-defined portion of the territory, in the center of Puglia. 


Specificity and historical notes

The area of the Central Murgia boasts a long winemaking tradition, rooted even in the period of "Magna Graecia" and attested by numerous historical documents and some works of art. Over the centuries, cultivation and production techniques have been constantly improved to a high level of specialisation and optimal results. The local wines, in fact, enjoy today a remarkable reputation, both nationally and internationally.
