Aglianico del Taburno
The Protected Designation of Origin "Aglianico del Taburno" includes the following types of wines: red, red reserve (also known simply as "reserve") and rosé.
Grapes
All three versions of the wine are produced with at least 85% of grapes from the Aglianico vine. For the remaining 15%, other black grapes are used, without aromatic characteristics, suitable for cultivation in the province of Benevento.
Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties
The "Aglianico del Taburno Rosso" is ruby red in colour, tending towards garnet, with a persistent aroma and a dry, full-bodied flavour. The minimum total alcoholic strength by volume is 12% vol. The rose version, on the other hand, has an intense pink colour and exudes a delicate, fresh and fruity bouquet, combined with a dry, harmonious and fine flavour. The minimum alcohol content is 12% vol. Finally, the Riserva version is an intense red colour, with a persistent aroma and a dry, harmonious and full-bodied flavour. The minimum alcoholic strength is 13% vol.
Grape production area
The "Aglianico del Taburno" is made exclusively from vineyards planted on hilly and foothill soils. The reference territory is located entirely within the province of Benevento and involves, in particular, 14 different municipalities.
Specificity and historical notes
The link between the wine and its territory of origin is deep and rooted, both geographically and historically. The particular conformation of the soils of the area and the ancient wine-growing tradition of the province of Benevento create the favourable basis for a quality production.
