Dogliani

The Dogliani and Dogliani Superiore, with possible indications of vineyard, are red wines included in the "Dogliani" Protected Designation of Origin.

Grapes

The "Dogliani" wines are produced in purity, therefore using only grapes obtained from Dolcetto vines.

Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

The "Dogliani" red, both in the basic version and in the Superiore variant, has a ruby red colour that is accompanied by a characteristic fruity aroma and a dry, harmonious and almond flavour. The minimum total alcoholic strength by volume shall be 12,00% vol. for Dogliani and 13,00% vol. for Dogliani Superiore, including variants with possible indications of the vineyard.

Grape production area

The production area is located in the south of Piemonte and in particular in the southern part of the so-called Langhe. An area with a cool climate, given its proximity to the Ligurian Apennines and the Maritime Alps.

Specificity and historical notes

The "Doglianese" is a very delicate wine, in fact, the vine from which it comes suffers from heat and needs mild temperatures to grow and especially to release, during the winemaking process, all its aromas. For this reason it can only be cultivated on hilly soils that do not exceed 800 meters above sea level and that have a clayey, calcareous and siliceous consistency.
