Lambrusco Salamino di Santa Croce

"Lambrusco Salamino di Santa Croce" are red and rosé wines, identified by a Protected Designation of Origin, and are also produced in sparkling and Spumante versions.


Grapes

85% of the vineyards from which the grapes used to produce "Lambrusco Salamino di Santa Croce" wines come must be made from "Lambrusco Salamino" vines. For the remaining 15% (maximum) can be used grapes from other varieties of the type Lambrusco or from Ancellotta and Fortana.


Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

Spumante red (11% vol.) has a ruby or garnet red appearance, with different degrees of intensity. The smell is pleasant, fine, gentle, floral, broad and composite. The taste is full-bodied and fresh, savory and harmonious, ranging from brut nature to sweet. The sparkling red (10.5% vol.), however, is ruby red with a vinous and intense aroma, enriched by a characteristic fruity scent, while the taste is full-bodied, fresh, savory, harmonious and can be dry, sweet, semi-dry, sweet or sweet. The corresponding rosè wines (Sparkling and Spumante) also have similar characteristics, but differ in their softer colouring and less full-bodied flavour. Finally, all the wines of the denomination are enriched by a lively and evanescent foam.


Grape production area

The production area is all located within the province of Modena, in a hilly area with a natural vocation for wine-growing and producing.


Specificity and historical notes

"Vitis Lambrusca" is an ancient wild vine, already known and praised in Roman times. In fact, there are traces of it in the writings of Cato "De Agricoltura", Varrone "De Rustica" and Pliny "Naturale Historia".
