Terrazze dell'Imperiese

The PGI "Terrazze dell'Imperiese" are white wines (also sparkling and passito), red wines (also sparkling, Passito and Novello) and rosé wines.

Grapes

The main grape varieties for the production of PGI wines "Terrazze dell'Imperiese" are, for the white (also sparkling and Passito), the white Pigato and the white Vermentino, to be used at a minimum altitude of 40%; for the red (also sparkling, Novello, Passito) and the rosé are, instead, Rossese and/or Ormeasco, also at a minimum altitude of 40%. The remaining 60% can be produced from another grape variety, with a similar berry colour, suitable for cultivation in Liguria.

Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

The white (10.50% vol.), even sparkling, is a more or less intense yellow colour with a delicate aroma and a fresh, balanced flavour. The Passito version (13% vol.) is distinguished by its golden yellow colour, intense, persistent aroma and balanced taste. The red type (10.50% vol.) has a ruby and/or garnet red colour, combined with a delicate perfume and a balanced taste. The sparkling red (10.50% vol.) adds a fresh flavour, while the new red (11% vol.) has a marked ruby colour. The Passito red (13% vol.), on the other hand, is garnet in colour, with an intense aroma and a balanced, persistent flavour. Finally, the rosé (10.50% vol.) has a pink colour, a delicate bouquet and a fresh, balanced taste.

Grape production area

The production area includes hills between 200m and 400m in the western Liguria region of Imperia.
