Terre di Colleoni o Colleoni

The protected designation of origin "Terre del Colleoni", also marketed simply as "Colleoni", includes a wide range of wines, with indication of the following varieties: Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Incrocio Manzoni, Moscato Giallo, Schiava, Merlot, Marzemino, Cabernet and Franconia. Some of the wines in question are also produced in the sparkling, sparkling and new versions, as listed in the specification, Finally, there is also a type of sparkling wine.


Grapes

All "Colleoni" wines that bear a label indicating a vine must be produced with at least 85% of the grapes coming from the same vine. The remaining portion, up to a maximum of 15%, can be obtained from other similar grape varieties, suitable for cultivation in Lombardy. The sparkling wine variant without specifications, on the other hand, requires the use of Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Nero, Incrocio Manzoni and/or Pinot Grigio grapes.


Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

The breadth of production that falls under the name Terre del Colleoni, combined with the variegated character of the vines used for winemaking, makes the picture of organoleptic characteristics extremely composite. All wines have undoubted elements that connect them clearly both to the grapes from which they are born and to the territory. In the specification you can find a precise description of all the peculiarities associated with each wine, in terms of color, smell, flavor, alcohol content, acidity and sugar content.


Grape production area

The production area is hilly and hilly, all within the province of Bergamo and bounded to the west by the island of Bergamo, to the north by the Orobie and east by Lake Iseo and the river Oglio.


Specificity and historical notes

The origins of Bergamo's viticulture have a strong Roman imprint. It is no coincidence that the cult and rites in honour of the god Bacchus were very much felt and widespread in the area.
