Terre di Offida

"Terre di Offida" is a Protected Designation of Origin that identifies a particular type of Passerina wine, produced in three variants: sparkling wine, passito and holy wine.

Grapes

"Terre di Offida" wines are all produced using at least 85% of the grapes coming from the Passerina vine. Other non-aromatic white grapes, suitable for cultivation in the Marche region, may also be added to these.

Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties

"Terre di Offida Passerina spumante" (minimum total alcoholic strength by volume 11.5% vol.) has a straw yellow appearance, rather tenuous, enhanced by a fine and persistent froth, the smell is pleasant and slightly fruity and the taste is typical and characteristic, with productions ranging from zero dosage to sweet. Passito (15.5% vol.), on the other hand, has a tonality that turns to amber yellow, more or less intense; the aroma is characteristic, ethereal and intense, combined with a harmonious and velvety flavour, which goes from dry to sweet. In Vino Santo, the colour ranges from golden to amber yellow, always with variations in intensity; it has an ethereal and intense aroma, with characteristic notes of withering, while the flavour is harmonious and velvety and can range from dry to sweet.

Grape production area

Divided between the provinces of Fermo and Ascoli Piceno, the production area ranges from the coastal area to the low hills, characterized by a typically Mediterranean climate.
