Colli Lanuvini
The Protected Designation of Origin "Colli Lanuvini" includes both white wines (in the basic version and with variants Superiore and Spumante) and red wines (basic version, Superiore and Riserva).
Grapes
Colli Lanuvini whites are produced with grapes from vineyards composed of 70% (maximum) of white Malvasia di Candia and Malvasia puntinata vines and 30% (minimum) of Trebbiano (Tuscan, green and yellow). Other white grapes from vines suitable for cultivation in Lazio may also be used. Reds, on the other hand, have at least 50% of grapes from Merlot and at least 35% from Montepulciano and Sangiovese. In addition, for the remaining part, can compete with red grapes, grown in Lazio.
Physicochemical and Organoleptic properties
The Bianco (minimum total alcoholic strength by volume 11% vol) and Bianco Superiore (12% vol) have a straw yellow colour with variable intensity. The aroma is vinous, delicate and pleasant; the taste is dry or sweet, full-bodied, savoury, harmonious and velvety. In the Spumante version (12% vol. ), the tonality remains the same and marries a fine and persistent froth; the aroma becomes more elegant, with notes of yeast, the flavour is dry or sweet. The types of red wines (from 11. 5% vol to 13% vol), on the other hand, have a ruby red colour, which in the Superiore and Riserva variants is enriched with violet reflections first and then garnet (ageing). The smell is vinous and pleasant. The flavor is dry (in the basic version also sweet), savory, full-bodied, harmonious and velvety.
Grape production area
The production area is located in the province of Rome, in the central part of Lazio, and includes a portion of the western side of the Colli Albani. These are hilly soils with a predominantly volcanic formation.
